About Our Talented Dentists

Dr. Ken Phillips
Dr. Ken Phillips is a general dentist at RCDG. Originally from Montreal, he graduated from Dalhousie Dental School in 1987, eventually moving west. He founded the Royal Centre practice in 1990. Now, when he’s not cycling the highways and byways of the province, or studying the latest developments in dentistry, he can be found here in downtown Vancouver working Monday-Thursday with his long time staff.
Dr. Phillips has taken a particular interest in aesthetic and laser dentistry over the years, taking advanced training courses in a variety of areas. He has been mentored by oral surgeon Dr. Ken Blankstein, and now performs most of his own surgical extractions.

Dr. Ryan Bernhauser
Dr. Ryan Bernhauser is an experienced general dentist at RCDG. He graduated in 2004 from dental school in Saskatchewan and didn’t hesitate when the opportunity to practice away from the cold and snow arose. Dr. Bernhauser has chosen to advance his skills in the area of endodontics (root canals), laser dentistry and orthodontics/ Invisalign®.
Together, the team at RCDG works Monday thru Saturday to accommodate your busy schedule. They look forward to working with you to provide the treatment and information you need to keep you smiling and healthy. They are both happy to accept the referral of your friends, family and colleagues – your trust is our greatest compliment. Thank you for considering us to be your dentist in downtown Vancouver

Dr. Nick Thomas
Dr. Nick Thomas joined the Royal Centre Dental Group after completing a 1-year General Practice Residency (GPR) at Vancouver General Hospital where he gained experience in managing medically compromised and cancer patients, emergency dental care, and oral surgery.
Before relocating to Vancouver, Nick moved from his hometown in Southern Alberta to Edmonton for Dental School at The University of Alberta, where he graduated in 2020. Despite now living on the West Coast, he remains a loyal Calgary Flames fan. When he is not working Wednesday to Saturday, he enjoys training for Ironman triathlons, hiking or snowshoeing in the mountains, finding the best doughnut in Vancouver, and walks with his golden retriever. He aims to optimize your oral health through a conservative and patient-centered approach!

Dr. Markus Gumbmann
Dr. Gumbmann spent nine years as a general dentist in Toronto before moving
back to his birth country of Germany. There he decided to follow his passion
in root canal therapy, doing the German equivalent of a special program with
the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Endodontologie und Traumatologie (DGET).
He worked in Germany for 11 years, primarily on a referral basis focused on,
but not limited to root canals. Dr. Gumbmann has worked with a dental
microscope since 2010. This has allowed him to see under high levels of
magnification and given him the ability to see the anatomy of the teeth. He
was a member of the European Endodontic Society until moving back to Canada at the start of 2020.
He now is a member of an Endodontic study club in hopes of continual
improvement of his skills and is excited to bring his vast experience in
inpatient care to Canyon Dental.
The RCDG Difference…
New Patient Visit – How it Works
1.
Call or Request Online
The first step to better oral health is booking a new patient visit. Give us a call or request an appointment online.
2.
Initial Visit
During your first visit we will take some digital X-Rays and see what’s going on inside of your mouth. Then, we’ll learn about your oral health goals and come up with a treatment plan.
3.
Your Mouth, Your Decisions
Once we have shared our recommendations, we want you make the best decisions for yourself. We will never be pushy or recommend treatments that you do not need.
